‘Arrested Development’ lands a major film?

Friday, February 1st, 2008 by Albert Ching

georgenew.jpgJeffrey Tambor continues to get us “Arrested Development” fans worked up to a sweaty lather, saying on the XM Radio “Ron and Fez” show. that a movie based on the epically hilarious sitcom may be in the works. This isn’t the first time that a movie’s been speculated about (of course, Ron Howard himself made a joke about it at the end of the last episode), but Tambor seems pretty sure of it happening in this clip, also saying that Jason Bateman is on board.

Of course, don’t get excited about it until it’s announced - and even then, really. Not that I doubt that Tambor or Bateman or anyone else in the cast would be eager to reprise their roles; everyone on “AD” really seemed to love the characters and the material. Still,  “Arrested Development” was maybe the poorest treated piece of universally critically acclaimed fiction in history (take that, “Friday Night Lights” fans!) and I’m skeptical that simply not existing for two years has changed things all that much. But it would be great if it has!
