Post NOT titled ‘Back to the ‘Futurama”

The new “Futurama” DVD, “Bender’s Big Score,” came out today. In a courageous effort to resist the obvious yet oh-so-pithy “Back to the ‘Futurama’” headline (examples here and here, many more can be found), this blog is clearly NOT titling its post in that manner. You’re welcome.

I’m a huge “Futurama” fan and am naturally psyched for this. I was a little dismayed when I realized that the DVD cover contains a seemingly sizable spoiler (calling attention to it would just make it worse, just try and cover up part of your screen while reading this blog and shut your eyes when purchasing it, I’m sure some helpful employee will guide you in the right direction - for online shoppers, things might be slightly trickier) but am nonetheless ready for big time yuks.

What sounds really great is one of the extras on the disc - a full-length episode of “Everybody Loves Hypnotoad.”

This is just one of four planned straight-to-DVD films (one of which is hilariously titled “The Beast with a Billion Backs”), which as you’ve surely heard by now if you care a whit about the show, will be chopped up into 16 episodes and shown on Comedy Central sometime late next year. Yes, it would be cooler if it was just a for real comeback a la “Family Guy,” but this is cool, too.
