‘Lost’! Season finale! Tonight!

Thursday, May 29th, 2008 by Albert Ching

jack.jpg8 p.m. ABC. Two hours. Aww yeah. Also, the “There’s No Place Like Home Part 1,” from two weeks ago, airs at 7 pm., supposedly with new content, and perhaps those “Pop Up Video”-esque little ticker of information.

The “Lost” season finales are always amazing; last season’s finale was one of the best two hours of TV I’ve seen (and along with last year’s “Battlestar Galactica” season finale, probably the best TV all year…until it was beat out by the “Extras” series finale, squeaking in at the last minute in December).

The official word from ABC: “The face-off between the survivors and the freighter people continues, and the Oceanic Six find themselves closer to rescue.” Well, that doesn’t tell us much. Which is good!

I’ve avoided spoilers entirely, though I have gleaned a few tidbits here and there from the likes of Ask Ausiello, including that…well, better hide it behind a cut. Speculation follows!

ABC gives ‘Lost’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ finales extra hours

Friday, April 11th, 2008 by Albert Ching

The Ausiello Report reports that, as rumored earlier in the week, ABC is giving “Lost” an extra hour to wrap up its strike-(slightly) shortened fourth season. It’ll be three hours in total, playing out over two weeks (one hour on May 15, two on May 29). So it’s a total of 14 hours for “Lost” this season, and they were only planning on 16 episodes, so we’re not getting all that short-changed due to the strike (showrunners Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse had gone on record saying they’d hope to make up the “missing” three episodes at some point, this is certainly an awesome first step).

Due in part  to the wacky  schedule shakeup, “Grey’s Anatomy” is also getting a three hour season finale, starting with an hour on May 15, and two on May 22.

IDing the new ‘Lost’ characters

Last night, in another typically great and head-scratching episode, “Lost” introduced four new characters. Did they look familiar? Here’s why!

Tons of spoilers for last night’s “Lost” after the jump. (more…)

‘Lost’ season four anticipation station!

Thursday, January 31st, 2008 by Albert Ching

kate.jpgAfter a more than eight month layoff, “Lost” is back. Yeah, it’s only eight episodes (down from 16 due to the writer’s strike). But still, some “Lost” is better than no “Lost,” right? (the answer is yes). And from all accounts, it’s an awesome episode. Also, read this cool article about “Lost” writer Brian K. Vaughn, who also happens to be one of my favorite comic book writers.

I didn’t see much of it, but I’ve heard people say that the embedded text in last night’s replay of the season three finale actually ended up fairly lame and distracting, other than a couple funny moments. I guess we should save that kind of technology for good use, like this:

‘Lost’ - season forthcoming

Friday, December 14th, 2007 by Albert Ching

ABC announced the start date for seaslost.jpgon four of “Lost” today - January 31.

That’s right calendarphiles, it’s now on Thursdays, taking up the coveted 8 p.m. Thursday stomping grounds of “Grey’s Anatomy.” The logic being, presumably, that since everything else will be in repeats due to the still-ongoing WGA strike, might as well put your best stuff (at least of what’s left) out there in an already highly watched time slot.

Eight episodes of “Lost” season four were produced before the strike shut down production, or exactly half of what we were going to get (as ABC is extending the last 48 episodes over three years). So even though this season might not end up as much more than an all-too-fleeting tease, it is indeed better than nothing (which is exactly what we have to look forward to from just about everything else). This week’s release of season 3 on DVD has prompted me to reflect fondly on how absolutely awesome the last half was, including one of the coolest, most surprising and daring season finales I’ve ever seen, so hopefully these eight episodes will at least give us a little bit of a clue as to what the dealio is going on.
