‘Return’ short-lived

Somehow, I missed “The Return of Jezebel James” when it premiered a week-and-a-half ago. The facts there it aired on the TV wasteland that is Friday night and I was out of town might have had something to do with it, but let’s be honest, I have a DVR and spent most of my time out of town watching TV anyway. There must have been something about it that kept me away. Which is weird by itself - I’ve always been a supporter of series star Parker Posey and I dug “Gilmore Girls” (”RoJJ” is the newest creation from “GG” mastermind Amy Sherman-Palladino). So what was it? All the terrible, terrible reviews? That would hardly stop me, a person who loyally and watched “Good Morning Miami” and “Committed,” as indefensible as such acts may be.

I did get around to checking it out, thanks to Hulu, this weekend. I’m not going to say it’s as bad as it’s been made out to be, but it’s bad. Really, it’s not so much “bad” as it’s just “boring.” In my last post I was complaining about people complaining about laugh tracks, but in a show like this, where the jokes aren’t just bad but mostly non-existent, it really does detract from the whole thing.

But what I think really doesn’t matter at this point - the show has already been canceled, after only three episodes aired in two weeks.
